- Youth with disabilities in Juvenile Detention Centers (JDCs) and DYS Juvenile Treatment Facilities (JTFs) will be free from abuse and/or neglect.
- Youth with disabilities in JDCs and JTFs will have access to adequate mental health services, positive behavior supports and appropriate medical treatment.
- Youth with disabilities in JTFs will receive appropriate discharge planning services to ensure success in the community.
- Youth with disabilities in JTFs will receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
Types of cases:
- Youth with disabilities who have been subjected to abuse and/or neglect in JDCs and JTFs.
- Youth with disabilities who are not provided with adequate medical and/or mental health care while in JDCs or JTFs.
- Youth with disabilities whose length of stay has been extended by DYS for disability-related reasons and/or a lack of access to adequate community treatment.
- Youth with disabilities in JDCs and JTFs who are not receiving a FAPE, including transition services.
