U.S. Department of Education Releases Guidance On Civil Rights of Students with ADHD

With more than 10% of the disability discrimination complaints the U. S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) has received in the past five years involving Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), OCR has issued guidance to clarify the obligation of school districts to provide students with equal educational opportunity under  Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (this link is to an OCR FAQ about Section 504).

To read the announcement about the guidance, which provides helpful links for more information, click here:  OCR Guidance Announcement.

Know Your Rights: Students with ADHD was also released by OCR, and provides an overview of schools’ obligations to students with ADHD.
