Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS)
The purpose of PABSS is to make protection and advocacy services available to beneficiaries of Social Security who want to work or return to work. The PABSS program was established in 1999 when the Ticket to Work and Work Incentive Improvement Act (TWWIIA) was enacted into law, and funding is provided via the Social Security Administration. PABSS authorization can be found at: 29 U.S.C. § 1320b-21, P.L. 106-170.
PABSS provides the following services:
- Information and advice about obtaining vocational rehabilitation and employment services; and
- Advocacy or other services that a beneficiary may need to secure or regain gainful employment.
