Disability Rights Arkansas is here to advocate for the disability rights community. Contact our Intake Advocate toll-free at (800) 482-1174 or fill out the confidential online “Request Help” form anytime.
What is the process to get help?
When you contact Disability Rights Arkansas, you will be connected to our intake advocate’s voicemail. You will be contacted within 48 hours. An intake advocate will get some basic information and your reason for calling. If this issue aligns with our priorities and objectives, our Intake Advocate will route you appropriately.
What information will we ask for?
We are required by our federal funders to ask for your name, address, disability, etc. but if you prefer not to provide this information, we will still assist you.
What services do we provide?
We provide information and referral, direct representation, legal representation, and training and outreach. Our services are free of charge and confidential to people with disabilities.
Who do we serve?
DRA serves people with disabilities.
When assisting adults with disabilities, DRA takes our direction from the expressed wishes of the adult with a disability. DRA staff may communicate and work with a guardian or other interested person (such as a parent, caregiver or service provider) when the adult with a disability gives permission and when the guardian or interested person is acting consistent with the adult’s expressed wishes. If you are contacting DRA about an adult with a disability, we will ask you to have the individual contact us directly whenever possible.
When assisting minor children with disabilities, DRA staff commonly communicate and work with parents to provide information and achieve advocacy goals. DRA does not represent parents directly, nor do we provide assistance in situations where parents seek help that will put children at risk of harm or take away their freedom or independence.
Why can’t we take all cases?
Because we have limited funds and staffing, we cannot take every case that is presented to us. If your problem is not within one of our current focus areas, we may not be able to help you directly. If we cannot provide direct help, we will do our best to identify other agencies or individuals who may be able to assist you.
This communication between DRA and you does not create an attorney-client relationship.
If you have any difficulties using this form, please call us at the number above.
