DRA is Hiring a Self-Advocate Coordinator

POSITION OPENING – Full-Time

Self-Advocate Coordinator

Little Rock, Arkansas – Disability Rights Arkansas (DRA) is seeking a full-time Self-Advocate Coordinator to coordinate and support self-advocates and self-advocacy groups throughout the state of Arkansas.

Agency Description – DRA has a vision that people with disabilities are equal members in their communities and dictate the course of their own lives through self-determination.  Advocacy services provided by DRA are client-focused.  The person with a disability is DRA’s client; DRA provides services to, and takes direction from, this individual.  People with disabilities are treated with dignity, respect and compassion regardless of their disability.  DRA’s mission is to vigorously advocate for and enforce the legal rights of people with disabilities in Arkansas.

Duties – The duties of the successful candidate will include supporting self-advocates and existing self-advocate groups; assisting self-advocates in providing leadership and training opportunities; coordinating regional and state self-advocacy meetings; communicating with self-advocates on a regular basis; preparing required reports and invoices as required by funders.  The applicant must have the ability to work well in teams.

Qualifications – include a high school degree or equivalent, and at least two years working with self-advocates.  Must have the ability to plan and organize events with support.  Some evenings, weekend work and travel required.
