The Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) is a part of the U.S. military health system, and their mission is to serve active duty military, their beneficiaries and veterans who have sustained a TBI with clinical care, clinical research initiatives and education programs. Founded in 1992 by Congress, DVBIC collaborates with the Department of Defense (DoD), military services, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), civilian health agencies, families and individuals with TBI.
Consisting of 16 sites, which are supported by a headquarters in Washington, D.C., DVBIC treats, supports, trains and monitors active duty military, family members, veterans and service providers who care for individuals impacted by TBI.
