Rooted in Rights, a project of Disability Rights Washington, recently shared the story of Jensen Caraballo, who was institutionalized as a teenager and spent over five years of his life in a nursing home. And Jensen is not alone; research indicates more than 200,000 non-elderly people with disabilities in the U.S. reside in nursing homes.
