The U. S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U. S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (DOE/OCR) issued a joint FAQ addressing effective communication for students with hearing, vision or speech disabilities in public elementary and secondary schools. The FAQ covers such things as auxiliary services, what factors should be considered in determining what aids/services are necessary to meet the definition of “equal opportunity”, accessible formats, fundamental alteration, etc. To view the FAQ in its entirety, see below:
