On 3/15/24 at 0752, Residents were in the cafeteria eating breakfast when resident jumped over the dietary counter and slid under the rolling door into the kitchen. Staff was let through the kitchen door to stop her when two other residents pushed past the staff. All three residents eloped out of the dietary exit door. West Memphis PD was called and after approximately 30 minutes, all three residents were found and taken to JDC due to displaying aggression and unsafe behaviors. Residents will be separately transported back to Perimeter of West Memphis by 1800.
Residents placed on peer separation and elopement precautions. Dietary Rolling door will remain closed at all times and Kitchen staff will now dispose of food trays. We are also adding an additional magnetic lock with badge access to the exit door.
Facility reported to Licensing on 3/21/24: “The three residents are doing well. We had Dillard door come out yesterday for the mag lock and should receive a proposal from them today with estimated date of instillation. We are keeping the rolling door in dietary closed at all times when youth are present and the other door entering the kitchen does currently have a badge access lock on it.” Licensing requested police report on 4/1/24.
