Officers responded to Perimeter Behavioral Health Center in reference to three juveniles running away from the facility. Officers searched the area for approximately 30 minutes before observing staff running towards a backyard. Officers and staff observed the three attempting to run again. The juveniles kept yelling profanity at Officers and facility workers, and also made comments saying that the officers might as well shoot them.

While trying to escort them to the patrol units, they kept jerking away from Officers and continued to yell out obscenities, making it difficult to keep control of them. Once inside the units, the juveniles began banging their heads against the cage in an attempt to harm themselves. One resident head butted and kicked the right front fender of Unit #2172 causing a dent. When resident was placed in Unit #2169, they continued to head butt the partition causing a cut to the forehead. WMFD EMS was called to the scene and treated minor injuries to the resident’s forehead. The juveniles were placed in custody and transported to Juvenile Detention Center. The Juvenile Intake Officer advised officers that all three Juveniles would be released back to the care of Perimeter Behavioral Health Center.
