Methodist Children’s Home operates multiple programs on a single campus. Police responses to this campus often do not identify the program they are responding to. All reports plausibly related to the PRTF or Qualified Residential Treatment Program/Group Home (QRTP) have been included here. Where we can be certain the response was to the QRTP it is noted.

Staff member stated she was transporting children from the West Helena Methodist Children’s Home to the listed address and upon arrival, juveniles 1 & 2 jumped out of the van and took off running. Juveniles were located shortly after officers broadcast. Upon their return, J2 became combative and she was taken to hospital where DHS would take custody of J2.

QRTP – Staff advised 2 juveniles were in a physical altercation. J1 advised he was in the hallway when J2 confronted him about a toy gun J1 had. When J1 refused to give J2 the toy, J2 struck J1 in the chest with a closed fist and they began fighting. J2 confirmed the same story given by J1. MEMS responded and transported J2 to the hospital due to a nose injury. Officers transported J1 to Methodist Behavioral Hospital in Maumelle for further care.

QRTP – Officers responded to location in reference to 3 juveniles who ran away between 2230 and 2300. Staff member stated he has no information on what they were wearing or what direction they went. As of 6/3/22 (0258 hours), all juveniles returned.

QRTP – Juvenile 1 stated he was sweeping the floor when Juvenile 2 walked through the pile of dirt. J1 stated they began pushing and hitting each other. J2 stated it was an accident and J1 pushed him first. No injuries observed on either juvenile.

QRTP – Staff stated juvenile was causing a disturbance and damaging property inside the facility after staff didn’t allow him to have his electronics since he didn’t go to school. Juvenile broke chairs, then used pieces of the chairs and his hands to bust out windows to the facility. Juvenile calmed down upon officers arrival and MEMS transported juvenile to hospital to treat swollen hand.

Staff stated J1 told her that J2 told him he had crawled through a window of a nearby vape store. J1 told officers he had no involvement in stealing the vapes and did not know if J2 was involved. J2 had left for school prior to officers arrival and contact was not made.

QRTP – Upon officers arrival, staff stated the juvenile was originally throwing rocks at the building and told her he would take her phone and break it. Staff stated since she had called, the juvenile calmed down and they only needed a report for his file. No obvious damage to the building at this time.

Upon arrival, officer spoke with unknown employee through intercom in bldg 3 who advised there were no runaways and to check a different building. Staff would not answer any further questions on intercom or come to the door. Officer unable to make contact with any other employees at any of the buildings. On 3/23 officers responded to the location in reference to the runaway report from 3/22. Staff advised both juveniles had returned. Officers confirmed they returned.
