- Self-inflicted Injury
- Client reported he was chewing on some staples found in the school and accidentally swallowed them. Client was sent to FCMC. ER Diagnosis: A staple was noted in the mid transverse colon and another in the proximal descending colon; There is no free air or evidence of obstruction. Client will continue follow-up x-rays until the staples have exited the body. As of 2/18/23, the staples descended from client’s body. Client was placed on line of sight until deemed safe by his assigned therapist.
- Licensing follow-up: Staff reported the client found the staples in the wall from artwork that was hanging in the classroom. Teachers have been instructed to use alternative methods for hanging items. Licensing completed a walkthrough of classrooms on 02/27/23 and discussed precautions with staff. Classroom 1 had staples around the border of the bulletin board (removed by staff immediately).
