Resource guide for economic impact payments for Social Security and SSI recipients

Disability Rights Arkansas

The Social Security Administration has produced a new resource guide, titled Economic Impact Payments for Social Security and SSI Recipients – Steps to Take and Schedule of Payments. The guide provides information for Social Security beneficiaries (retirement, survivors, disability) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients related to the COVID-19 economic impact payments.

Some important notes:

  • Note the May 5th deadline – and the important necessary steps – for SSI recipients who did not file a 2019 or 2018 tax return and who have a child to receive $500 economic impact payments now for their children.
  • How SSI recipients can and cannot receive these $500 economic impact payments now.
  • Missing the May 5th deadline will require the SSI recipient to wait until next year to file a tax year 2020 tax return to get those $500 payments.
