Respite care grants for $500 now available in Central Arkansas through Alzheimer’s Arkansas and Carelink

Respite care grants of $500 are now available through Alzheimer’s Arkansas and CareLink to provide respite services for the caregiver(s) of a person with a chronic illness.  To qualify, the care recipient must be 60 years old or older, be diagnosed with a chronic illness that requires a caregiver (such as COPD, cancer, stroke, renal failure, dementia)  and reside in Pulaski, Saline, Monroe, Prairie, Lonoke or Faulkner counties.  The only restrictions on this grant are 1) the caregiver cannot pay themselves to provide the care funded by this grant, and 2) the care recipient cannot be already receiving respite funds through Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, Elder Choices or Hospice.
