Methodist Children’s Home operates multiple programs on a single campus. Police responses to this campus often do not identify the program they are responding to. All reports plausibly related to the PRTF or Qualified Residential Treatment Program/Group Home (QRTP) have been included here. Where we can be certain the response was to the QRTP it is noted.

Contact with family (Calls and visit schedule): Clients have regularly scheduled phone call opportunities. The number of actual calls depends on the clients wish to utilize these opportunities. In person visitation (assuming no quarantine precautions) is available every weekend and can be scheduled at other times as needed by the family or guardian.

Battery Third Degree, Terroristic Threatening Second Degree
Staff advised prior to Officers arrival, she had been in a physical disturbance with Juvenile1. Juvenile1 had become irate and threw a chair, hitting Staff; Juvenile1 then punched Staff causing swelling to Staffs face. Juvenile1 then grabbed Staffs face and also punched Staff in back of head while other Staff were trying to separate Juvenile. Juvenile2 stated “Bitch need to die” referring to another staff member. Juvenile2 made several threats to beat the other staff member. Officers advised both Staff members to seek warrants, and transported both Juveniles to Methodist Behavioral in separate patrol vehicles.

QRTP – Staff advised 2 Juveniles were smoking marijuana behind the building and refused to give Staff the narcotics. Officers spoke with Juveniles who stated they had smoked it all. Staff advised Officers they would handle the situation in house; No further action was taken.

QRTP – Officers responded in response to a runaway report; Upon arrival Officers met runaway at the front steps of facility. Juvenile stated he had an argument with staff and jumped out the window, but came back around the building after that.

QRTP – Upon arrival to facility, Officers located juvenile outside the fence at facility. Officers transported juvenile back to facility. Juvenile stated Staff member had been pushing him around for the past week. Staff member stated he did not place hands on the juvenile, but juvenile had been acting out and running away. Officer verified with other Staff.

QRTP – Staff advised juvenile had run away from facility about an hour before officers arrived. Officer located juvenile after circulating the area; Juvenile was resisting Officer, so she was placed in handcuffs and transported back to facility. Juvenile went back inside and to her room without incident.

QRTP – (1)Juvenile returned after Officers left. (2)Upon Officers arrival, Juvenile had already returned; Due to Juvenile being disobedient, Officers were advised to transport Juvenile to Methodist Behavioral Hospital. (3)Officers transported Juvenile to Methodist Behavioral in Maumelle.

Criminal Mischief First Degree
Director at facility informed Officers that Juvenile became upset at around 1700 hours over having to eat early. Staff stated Juvenile destroyed multiple ceiling tiles, A.C. vents, and the plastic cover protected the TV screen. Damage over $1000. Juvenile was arrested and issued a citation, then transported to Methodist Behavioral in Maumelle.

QRTP – Staff state Juvenile 1 had enetered the dining room a couple of times trying to fight another juvenile, and then resisting staff. After Staff tried escorting Juvenile 1 out, Officers entered the next room and noticed a small knife in one of the staffs hand. That Staff Member stated she took the knife from Juvenile 1 after he attempted to stab her with it. No injuries occurred. After speaking with Detectives, Juvenile 1 was charged with aggravated assault and transported to the Juvenile Intake without issue.

Officer received referral from Crimes Against Children Division in reference to Juvenile1 who sustained injury during fight at facility. Juvenile1 stated he had got into a fight with 2 of the 4 boys in his dorm room. Juvenile1 stated that after fight ended, one of them went to get Staff. Juvenile1 was taken to nurse at facility, but not the hospital. Juvenile1 was later taken to Children’s Hospital on 7/22/2019. Investigation ongoing.

QRTP – Staff stated 2 juveniles got into a verbal disturbance that turned physical. No visible injuries. After fight, Staff stated Juvenile1 ran from facility. Officers were later called to Staybridge Suites to pick up Juvenile1; Officers transported Juvenile1 back to facility without incident.

QRTP – Officers responded to a call of a runaway juvenile; Upon arrival, Staff informed Officers that Juvenile had returned and is in the facility. Officers were brought to Juvenile to confirm she was safe.

QRTP – Juvenile1 stated that him and Juvenile2 were play fighting when Juvenile2 started punching and slapping him for no reason. Juvenile3 (witness) confirmed. Juvenile1 was advised to seek warrants.

QRTP – Officers responded to a call of a runaway Juvenile; After circulating area, Officers located and transported Juvenile back to facility to Staff.

QRTP – Staff stated an individual that was previously part of the program had returned and allegedly attempting to sell drugs to other children and demanded to see girlfriend (juvenile at facility). Upon Officers arrival, individual had left the area but Staff called back later saying he had returned. Upon arrival, individual left again; Officers searched area with negative results.

QRTP – Staff reported Juvenile got upset and threw rocks at multiple windows. Arrangements were made to have Juvenile admitted to Methodist Behavioral in Maumelle. Officers advised Staff to seek charges against the Juvenile for the damage and transported Juvenile to Maumelle facility without incident.
