Methodist Children’s Home operates multiple programs on a single campus. Police responses to this campus often do not identify the program they are responding to. All reports plausibly related to the PRTF or Qualified Residential Treatment Program/Group Home (QRTP) have been included here. Where we can be certain the response was to the QRTP it is noted.

Contact with family (Calls and visit schedule): Clients have regularly scheduled phone call opportunities. The number of actual calls depends on the clients wish to utilize these opportunities. In person visitation (assuming no quarantine precautions) is available every weekend and can be scheduled at other times as needed by the family or guardian.

Staff advised that Juvenile assaulted her. Staff stated when she went to take away some explicit material from Juvenile, he got in her face, became upset and began pushing her, and punched her in the chest. Staff stated she didn’t want to press charges; No visible injuries. Juvenile was placed in his room.

QRTP – Passerby contacted Officer stating there was a fight involving 10 children at facility. Upon arrival Officers circulated the area and did not locate a fight.

QRTP – Caller stated that he was advised Juvenile1 took his phone and walked off location. Juvenile1 returned to location while officer was speaking with caller. After Juvenile1 tried to blame it on another juvenile, he finally admitted to taking it and phone was returned to Caller without incident. Caller stated he didn’t want to press charges, but wanted a report made.

QRTP – Staff advised 3 juveniles had been in a physical altercation. Staff stated Juvenile1 punched Juvenile2 in the face and pulled Juvenile3s hair. Officer only noticed injuries to Juvenile1s face & arms. MEMS transported Juvenile1 to Children’s Hospital. Officer advised of warrants.

QRTP – Staff stated while stopping a fight between 2 residents, 1 of them threatened to “slap the shit out of Staff and the other kids”; Staff advised she did not want to seek warrants against the Resident.

Staff stated juvenile walked off from location, Staff had attempted to search with negative results. Officers also searched with negative results. Later that day, Officers made contact with juvenile at fast food location, and transported juvenile back to facility to staff.

Staff advised that prior to officers arrival, Juvenile was being disruptive and kicking the doors making loud noise. As Staff member was escorting Juvenile to his room, Juvenile pushed Staff away causing him to fall and hurt his back. Staff advised to Officers that he was not making a report.

QRTP – Officers made contact with Staff who stated a juvenile had advised Staff that another juvenile had a marijuana cigarette. Staff stated juvenile had thrown the cigarette behind one of the buildings. Juvenile also attempted to fight the juvenile that told Staff, but Staff were able to separate the two. Officers unable to locate cigarette.

QRTP – Staff advised a prior resident at facility wandering around trying to gain entry to building. While speaking with Staff, former resident walked up to Officers with multiple cuts to his chest and arm. MEMS arrived on scene to clean the wounds; MEMS transported former resident to Baptist for further medical attention without incident.

QRTP – Staff advised a Juvenile was responsible for breaking out a window at facility. Staff stated he did not know with Juvenile it was out of the two on report. Officers advised to seek warrants if able to determine the suspect.

QRTP – Staff stated Juvenile had run away from location at approximately 18:30 hours. Juvenile was possibly suicidal and had drug abuse problems. Officers circulated area with negative results. On 9/12/2019 around 19:14 hours, Officers received hit that Sherwood Officers had picked up Juvenile and transported him to their police department. Officers got number for Staff to speak directly to someone at dept. about picking up Juvenile.

QRTP – Staff advised Resident had left the facility at some point earlier in the day. Officers circulated the area and located the Resident and returned him to the facility without incident.

QRTP – Staff advised 2 juveniles ran away from facility; Prior to Officers arrival Juvenile 2 returned to location. Upon arrival, Juvenile 1 had also returned to location. Both Juveniles advised they did not leave campus, but were just walking around. Staff advised a report was still needed.

QRTP – Caller (client) stated the resident made inappropriate comments about his mother that he didn’t appreciate. Officers made contact with resident who stated Caller kept staring at him so he asked him if he had a problem and then went back and forth arguing verbally; Fight did not become physical.

Staff advised prior to Officers arrival, she had been in a physical disturbance with Juvenile1. Juvenile1 had become irate and threw a chair, hitting Staff; Juvenile1 then punched Staff causing swelling to Staffs face. Juvenile1 then grabbed Staffs face and also punched Staff in back of head while other Staff were trying to separate Juvenile. Juvenile2 stated “Bitch need to die” referring to another staff member. Juvenile2 made several threats to beat the other staff member. Officers advised both Staff members to seek warrants, and transported both Juveniles to Methodist Behavioral in separate patrol vehicles.

QRTP – Staff advised 2 Juveniles were smoking marijuana behind the building and refused to give Staff the narcotics. Officers spoke with Juveniles who stated they had smoked it all. Staff advised Officers they would handle the situation in house; No further action was taken.
